Communication Is A Basic Human Right

During the recent General Debate at the United Nations Conference of State Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Personal with Disabilities, Abdi Omar provided an intervention on behalf of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and International Communication Project. Video Intervention at the United Nations

The international Communication Project (ICP) submitted a video intervention to the United Nations Conference of State Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Personal with Disabilities. In the video, the ICP sort to reinforce the point that communication is the right a person holds to express themselves and to be heard and that this is a basic and fundamental human right. Article 2, 3 and 21 of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities highlight the right and freedoms regarding communication and languages, including freedom of expression and opinion, and access to information via all modalities.
